Kawartha Lakes is the ideal summer destination, with over 600 km of trails, 250 lakes and rivers, inviting communities, and spectacular attractions. We have included the must try experiences below so check them out!

Stroll Through Nature!

Kawartha is filled with beautiful forests and trails, one of which is Gamiing Nature Centre located 15 minutes from the cottage.  The property includes over 7 km of trails along scenic Pigeon Lake. Another great option is the extensive Kawartha Trans Canada Trail! This was once a historic railway: today it is a magnificent trail spanning 53 kms. This trail runs through woodlands, farmlands and wetlands and is perfect for walking, biking and rollerblading. 25 minutes away from the cottage is an access point and parking lot for the trail, Omemee Beach

Catch Some Waves!

Kawartha is full of lovely lakes for boating, swimming and water sports. You can bring your own gear or rent at the many lakeside locations. Buckeye Surf and Snow is a great place to rent wakeboards, jet skis, pontoon boats, fishing boats, paddleboards, kayaks and canoes. In addition it’s only 4 minutes from the cottage!

Check out the Farmer’s Market

Summer is a perfect time to eat fresh produce and the Kawartha region has plenty of local grown fruits and veggies available for purchase. Just 5 minutes from the cottage is the Bobcaygeon Farmers Market where you can purchase locally grown produce, meats, crafts, baked goods and more! The market happens every Saturday from May to October between 8 am and 1 pm and its located at Bobcaygeon Fairgrounds on Mansfield Street, Bobcaygeon, ON, K0M1A0.

Enjoy Some Live Music!

Just 5 minutes away from the cottage is a great bar that features beer from local craft breweries and locally farmed food. El Patio is decorated with tropical plants and string lights and features karaoke and live music events. You can catch some live music shows on Sunday afternoons and Friday evenings. Keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram pages for live music announcements.

Hit The Golf Course

Kawartha region is filled with beautiful grounds and scenery and whether you are a pro or a beginner, there are plenty of local courses to cater to your abilities. Lindsay Golf & Country Club has various leagues including mens, womens, seniors and juniors programs. This course offers lessons for all skill levels and is 25 minutes away from the cottage. Another great option is only 15 minutes away from the cottage featuring a 9 hole golf course on the north shore of Pigeon Lake. Sheffield Greens offers mens, ladies leagues. Go Fishing!

Your cottage is situated on the grand Sturgeon Lake, a perfect spot to catch some fish! If you need bait and tackle, just 5 minutes from the cottage is Smith & Son’s Bait & Tackle shop. If you are looking to venture out, Bobcaygeon Beach Park is a great destination for fishing or a nice stroll! You can catch fish like muskellunge, smallmouth bass and walleye. Try your luck and catch some fish to fry!
